Lion Monument, Luzern

This big dying lion has been carved on the wall of a former quarry, in memory of the hundreds Swiss guards killed during the French revolution. I am not sure if what I've heard on YouTube is true, but the artist that carved this beautiful lion had trouble with the patrons regarding its payment. After the work was basically finished, they find excuses for delaying the payment or not paying the arranged amount, so, in an act of spite the guy shaped the alcove in the form of a pig, as a permanent insult. I cannot unseen the pig now that I saw it. I hope the story is true.
